First Day of School
May had her first day of preschool today.
She's going just two days a week, in the afternoons. The school is at an Audubon Center out in the country and it's intended to give her a chance to get back to nature. We love living in a city, but think it's important that she knows there are more animals than just dogs on leashes and squirrels.
She's one of three girls in a class of ten with two teachers. She's the youngest there. One of her teachers had a home visit with her a few weeks ago, to get to know her a little better. She's a lovely woman named Sarah and May really took a shine to her.
I dropped her off at 1 o'clock today and she ran right into the school room without hesitation. She waved to me quite casually when I said I was leaving. I went down to Concord and got a chai at Starbucks and then came back at 3:30. She was having so much fun playing that she only waved when I came in.
She skipped her nap today (!) and so fell asleep on the car ride home. So I didn't hear too much about her day. I do know that she managed without any potty-training accidents (Yay!) and that she really enjoyed watching the construction vehicles that are doing some work on the farm. Yes... we spent all that time and money to make sure she gets back to nature and her one memory of her first day is construction work. We've got that right here! Out our window, in fact! Oh, well....
She picked out her outfit herself. She's also got a blue car lunch bag, "Just like Daddy's!" She wanted a backpack, but I was unable to find one that wasn't A. shaped like a stuffed animal B. plastered in some licenced character, C. hideously ugly, or D. all of the above.
You all don't care about this so I'll post a few pictures.
